Viewing and Printing PDF files

You need free Adobe Acrobat Reader software to open and view PDF (Portable Document Format) files.

If you have difficulty opening a PDF document, close all other programs open on your computer and then retry opening the document. If this does not work, verify that you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader: Click on the "Help" menu option at the top of the Acrobat screen, then click "About Acrobat Reader". Your version number should be listed there. Go to the website above and verify that you have the latest version. If not, download the new version.

If you get an error message while printing a PDF file, it may be because your printer and/or computer cannot handle the file size of the document. You may be able to work around this problem by printing it in smaller batches rather than printing the entire document at one time. Before trying to print the document again, be sure to stop your current printing process, then close and reopen the PDF document.

Follow these steps to print in smaller batches:

  • Click on the "File" option in your toolbar
  • Choose "Print…"
  • Under "Print Range", type in a 4 or 5 page range in the text box next to the words "Pages from".
  • Click the "OK" button on the bottom of the form.
  • Continue doing this for all the pages in the document until complete. You may wish to try larger page ranges after the first batch of pages is complete.

The amount of pages to print at one time depends upon the capacity of your printer and computer.
